In the 2017/18 FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge, students age 9 to 16 from 80 countries will make a splash with HYDRO DYNAMICS. What might become possible when we understand what happens to our water?
FIRST® LEGO® League challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. During the HYDRO DYNAMICSSM season, teams will choose and solve a real-world problem in the Project. They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under the FIRST LEGO League signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

The Trasnational meeting and course week of the Erasmus Plus project "Robotics Over Internet Protocolo"

Target audience
Teachers and students of Technical and Professional Institutes

The main goal of the project is constructing a remote (via-internet) control system for the professional industry robot and NAO (humanoid shape robot). We will create multilingugal (in all partners languages) video SWIFT programming course available as Open Educational Resource. Schools participating in the project will have an opportunity to evaluate their own curriculums and to choose solutions, effectively used in partner countries, which succour the educational process. The labour market cooperation will influence the awareness of correlation between knowledge and practice. It will show practical ways of using it and it will familiarise the participants with different technological solutions. We will get the most actual knowledge used in real life.

Depuis la première édition en 1997 à Toulouse les Journées Nationales de la Recherche en Robotique (JNRR) réunissent tous les deux ans l’ensemble de la communauté française des chercheurs en robotique, qu'ils travaillent au sein d’institutions publiques ou d’entreprises privées.
Comme à chaque édition, elles seront l’occasion de faire le point sur les dernières avancées dans les principaux domaines de la robotique, de nouer et de conforter des collaborations, de préparer le futur. Notez donc la date : du 8 au 10 novembre 2017.
Ces journées seront couplées avec les JJCR (Journée des Jeunes Chercheurs en Robotique), qui réunissent plus spécifiquement les doctorants en robotique, qui auront lieu le 7 novembre 2017 sur le site de la technocité de Bayonne.

Depuis 18 ans, le Salon européen de l’éducation constitue le rendez-vous annuel qui rassemble les professionnels de l’éducation ainsi que des centaines de milliers de jeunes qui viennent réfléchir à leur orientation.

La communauté robotique nationale (FFROB, FFCR, Aquitaine Robotics…) dispose d’un espace à l’entrée de ce salon dans le village robotique.

Les professionnels participent à Educatec-Educatice, qui leur offre un espace d’échanges d’expériences et de réflexions, ainsi qu’une vitrine des dernières tendances et innovations technologiques appliquées à l’enseignement.

Les jeunes viennent quant à eux sur le Salon de l’orientation, lieu incontournable qui accueille le Salon de l’Etudiant, l’Aventure des Métiers et le Salon de l’ONISEP.

La Ligue de l'enseignement est à l’initiative du Salon européen de l’Education, sur lequel elle propose également une programmation riche : sur le Salon professionnel, avec les grands rendez-vous Educatec-Educatice/Ligue de l'enseignement autour de trois grands défis éducatifs et le Carré éducatif ; sur le Salon de l’orientation, via un espace dédié accueillant de nombreuses animations.

Robot-Assisted Disaster Response Technology Day

TRADR is a European Project developing and deploying technology for human-robot teaming for robot-assisted disaster response. It is on the forefront of such efforts in Europe. The Technology Day will show our achievements and share insights gained during the 4 years of the project, including our experience from the TRADR deployment in Amatrice, Italy, shortly after the earthquake in 2016, as well as the industrial use case experiments carried out in 2016 in Dortmund and in 2017 in Rotterdam. The program will consist of presentations and posters of TRADR scientific results and end-user experience with using robots, practical demonstration of the TRADR integrated system and a panel discussion. The participants will have an opportunity to make contacts with experts within and outside the TRADR project.

International Sumo Robot Competition -- Sumo Challenge 2017

Międzynarodowe Zawody Robotów Sumo Challenge odbywają się od roku 2008. Przez kilka lat istnienia imprezy mieliśmy okazję podziwiać zmagania kilkuset robotów stworzonych przez studentów, licealistów i wielu pasjonatów robotyki z Polski i zagranicy. Tegoroczne Sumo Challenge jak zawsze zapewni wiele atrakcji! Główna cześć imprezy to oczywiście zmagania robotów w kilkunastu konkurencjach, w których walczą (kategorie Sumo), ścigają się (kategorie Line Follower), biegają (Humanoid Sprint), szukają wyjścia z labiryntu (Micromouse) lub zaskakują dowolnym innym zastosowaniem (Freestyle). Konkurencje są zróżnicowane - z pewnością każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie! Na imprezie znajdzie się również coś dla najmłodszych - firma AleRobot przeprowadzi warsztaty z robotyki dla dzieci (z wykorzystaniem klocków Lego Mindstorms). Same zawody składają się z dwóch głównych części - eliminacyjnej oraz gali finałowej, która jak zawsze będzie dynamiczna i pełna niespodzianek. Dla widzów przygotowano również konkursy z nagrodami!

FIRST LEGO League Tournament

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) is a program that supports children and youngsters in order to introduce them to science and technology in a sporty atmosphere.
The basis of FLL is a robotics tournament in a cheerful atmosphere, where kids and youngsters need to solve a tricky "mission" with the help of a robot. The kids are researching a given topic within a team, they are planning programming and testing an autonomous robot to solve the mission. The FLL Teams take the opportunity to experience all steps of a real product development process: solving a problem under time pressure with insufficient resources and unknown competitors. FLL is a small microcosmos of real business life in all its respects.

Children and teenagers between the ages of 9 and 16 years.

For the first time, in Zenica, "Let's talk Robotics" workshop will be held as part of EU Robotics Week. The workshop will take place in ICC Center in Zenica. Impulse Creative Center (ICC) is coworking space and presents unique and innovative space equipped with advanced IT equipment (3D scanner, 3D printer, CNC machines). The workshop will consist of several tutorials for programming LEGO robots, mBot and Arduino. Everyone is welcome!

Let's talk robotics!

Elementary school „Kiseljak“ is located in the heart at Bosnia and Herzegovina in a small town Kiseljak. It is located in the northwest of Sarajevo. School started to work in 1890 and at that time there were about 150 students. Nowadays there are more than 500 students in our school. They attend school from the 1.st to the 9th grade. There are a lot of extracurricular activities in our school and students can choose and attend some of the activities during the school year.
There is Robotic activity in our school since last year. More than 30 students are included in this activity.
This activity runs IT teacher Valentina Vidović and our students have used mBot robots for SPARKreators competition. According to last results, both of our teams (young and older) were the best in our region.
Three of our students: Gabrijel, David and Sanor represented our school at the advanced robotic competition that was organized in Zagreb at the end of September this year. The team programmed the Abilix robot. It had to solve different tasks on the theme of revolution. There were 52 teams in the competition and our team won the 16th. Place. In the world of programming and robotics girls are not as represented as boys and for that reason, we have started this activity special for girls.

Target audience
The "Let's talk Robotics" workshop will be held for students from 1st to 9th grade. The workshop will cover mBot and Arduino programming.

Praxisnahe Lösungen für Industriepartner

Das Applikationszentrum Industrie 4.0 des Fraunhofer IPA ist eine Innovationsumgebung, in der Unternehmen und Wissenschaftler gemeinsam Industrie-4.0-Anwendungen erforschen und bedarfsgerecht weiterentwickeln. Industrieunternehmen können es als Testumgebung für eigene und gemeinsame Forschung und Entwicklungen nutzen. Demonstratoren zeigen schon heute wie sich cyberphysische Systeme in der Produktion einsetzen lassen. Zu sehen sind auch additive Produktionstechnologien und echtzeitnahe Simulationen.

Das vom Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Wohnungsbau Baden-Württemberg geförderte Projekt verfolgt folgende Ziele:

- Gemeinsam Showcases und Szenarien erforschen
- Lösungen bedarfsgerechte entwickeln und erproben

The hosting Senior students’ workshop will inspire the young Guests to play with NAO the Robot in an interactive and playful way!
There will two available games for the young Guests :
The first is: “ guess the number ” : a student has to write a number on whiteboard and NAO will have to recognize it.
The second one is : “ the mime game” ; a student has to move his/her arms and NAO will track his/her movement.
On Guests’ demand they will be given the chance to programme NAO the Robot on their own under the supervision of their Senior Colleagues

The domain of cloud robotics aims to converge robots with computation, storage and communication resources provided by the cloud. Imagine a collection of more than sixty virtuoso musical robots that can play nearly any composition. Traditional instruments such as a piano, percussion, brass, woodwind or a  variety of string instruments are combined with unheard sounds produced by newly invented instruments.
 
All these automata are fully acoustic and do neither use electronic sounds nor amplification. The Logos Robot Orchestra only has genuine musical instruments, driven by the magic of 21st-century robotics, in its ranks.
Mechanical instruments have existed for a long time. Our automatons surpass their historical antecedents on various levels: all musical robots have full dynamic control as well as full polyphony. Their capabilities easily exceed those of human players. The microtonal capabilities and extreme precision of the automatons turn them into the perfect tool to explore musical and expressive possibilities.
 
The orchestra does more than just play any style of music, it can create astonishing interactive music in real time. Dancers and musicians use gesture-sensing technologies including sonar and radar systems - developed in-house - to control the sounds directly with their own bodies. The generated music is gesture-controlled. Instead of dancers reacting to music, the music is derived from the movement of the dancers.

FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) is a program that supports children and youngsters in order to introduce them to science and technology in a sporty atmosphere.
The basis of FLL is a robotics tournament in a cheerful atmosphere, where kids and youngsters need to solve a tricky "mission" with the help of a robot. The kids are researching a given topic within a team, they are planning programming and testing an autonomous robot to solve the mission. The FLL Teams take the opportunity to experience all steps of a real product development process: solving a problem under time pressure with insufficient resources and unknown competitors. FLL is a small microcosmos of real business life in all its respects.

Target audience
Children and teenagers between the ages of 9 and 16 years.

The kids are researching a given topic within a team, they are planning programming and testing an autonomous robot to solve the mission. The FLL Teams take the opportunity to experience all steps of a real product development process: solving a problem under time pressure with insufficient resources and unknown competitors. FLL is a small microcosmos of real business life in all its respects.

Robots for Healthy Aging

In the context of the “European Robotics Week 2017” (17.-26. November 2017) an event on the subject of robots in social work takes place on Wednesday, 29. November, from 14:00 to 17:00 in the “Exhibition of the Independent Living Center” at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. Robots and assistive technologies for healthy aging will be the focal point of this event.

The development of a robotic shower system within the European HORIZON 2020 research project I-SUPPORT (www.i-support-project.eu) will be in the main focus.
In addition, emotional and social robots such as the seal PARO and the Dinosaur Pleo will be presented. The telepresence robots Giraff, Double and VGO and the two humanoid robots NAO and Pepper will be introduced and possible applications discussed.

Free entry - registration is not required.

Es ist nie zu früh MINT (Mathematik-Informatik-Naturwissenschaft-Technik) zu entdecken!
FIRST® LEGO® League Junior ist aus einer Initiative der amerikanischen Stiftung FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) und LEGO® entstanden und wurde entwickelt, um Kinder im Alter von sechs bis zehn Jahren an die MINT-Thematik heranzuführen. Der Einstieg wird den Kindern durch die ihnen bekannten und beliebten bunten Steine erleichtert.
Begleitet durch zwei oder mehr erwachsene Coaches, erforschen die Teams (bis zu sechs Teammitglieder) reale existierende Probleme wie Recycling, Energie oder das Zusammenleben von Mensch und Tier. Sie erstellen ein Forschungsposter, das ihre Entdeckung und ihr Team vorstellt, und sie bauen ein motorisiertes Modell aus LEGO® Steinen. Auf der „Reise“ lernen die Kinder gemeinsam im Team zu arbeiten und erkunden die Wunder der Wissenschaft und Technik. Im Mittelpunkt des Projekts stehen die FLL Junior Grundwerte wie respektvoller Umgang, gemeinsames Erleben und kritisches Denken. Am Ende jeder Saison treffen sich die Teams zu einer Ausstellung, um ihre Ergebnisse zu präsentieren, Ideen auszutauschen und gemeinsam Spaß zu haben!

Els tallers de robòtica educativa tenen moltes característiques que els fan extremadament atractius i són una molt bona forma de promoure la passió per la ciència, la tecnologia, la enginyeria, les matemàtiques i l’art des de edats molt joves (les matèries STEAM), impulsant un aprenentatge basat en projectes, en el joc i la cooperació (learn by doing, learn by playing).
Volem ajudar a incorporar els aspectes de la programació a l’aprenentatge basat en projectes.
Els participants en aquest curs realitzaran un projecte utilitzant entre altres la tecnologia de la robòtica educativa de LEGO, de forma transversal i experimentaran l’ús de la programació, dels sensors i motors, i la seva relació amb matèries com: la física, les matemàtiques, la geometria, la enginyeria, la lògica, la tecnologia i la ciència, les ciències socials i l’art en general.

Target audience
L’objectiu d’aquest curs per professors és aprofundir en la tecnologia de la robòtica educativa de LEGO i descobrir recursos per aplicar-los en un aprenentatge creatiu.
En aquest sentit, el curs permetrà als assistents:
- conèixer i practicar la tecnologia, el llenguatge de programació i les relacions entre els components del robot LEGO.

Az MTA SZTAKI Győri Egyetemen működő Ipar 4.0 Kutatási és Innovációs Kiválósági Központja a Kutatók Éjszakája alkalmából nyitott estét tart a látogatók számára.
Munkatársaink bemutatják a demonstrációs, kísérleti és oktatási célokkal épült mini gyártórendszerünket, valamint a hozzá kapcsolódó, együttműködő robotokat. Az újonnan kialakított, egyedi környezetben vendégeink interaktívan dolgozhatnak együtt kisebb robotokkal és betekintést kaphatnak a robotizált 3D szkennelésbe is. Minden érdeklődőt szeretettel várunk.

A Mérnöki és Üzleti Intelligencia Kutatólaboratórium munkatársainak előadásában bemutatjuk a demonstrációs célokkal épült mini gyártórendszerünket, valamint a hozzá kapcsolódó, engedelmes robotokat.
A kísérleti környezetben a hagyományos eszközök (magasraktár, szállítószalag, megmunkáló állomások) mellett mobil szállító, valamint az emberrel együttműködő robotok alkotnak sokféle gyártási és szerelési feladatot megoldani képes rendszert. A szófogadó gyár a virtuális térben is megtekinthető a Megosztott Virtuális Valóság Kutatócsoport 3D barlangjában.

A Megosztott Virtuális Valóság Kutatócsoport prezentációjának keretén belül a látogatók betekinthetést nyerhetnek a virtuális valóság technológia ipari alkalmazási területeibe, illetve testközelből láthatják milyen változásokat hozhat ez a technológia a jövő kórházai, iskolái, munkahelyei számára. Látogatóink megtekinthetik egy a Mérnöki és Üzleti Intelligencia Kutatólaboratóriummal kooperációban létrehozott virtuális gyártósort, illetve azt, hogy a jövőben hogy lehet a virtuális valóság technológiák felhasználásával a gyártást irányítani, optimalizálni.
A virtualizációs technológiák bár régóta jelen vannak a tudomány illetve technika világában, kézzelfoghatóan a hétköznapi alkalmazások szintjén csak a most váltak széleskörben elérhetővé. Az internet és a mobilkommunikációs eszközök technikai és kulturális forradalma teszi lehetővé, hogy a jövő gyáraiban, kórházaiban, iskoláiban egy új, a verbális nyelvet kiegészítő, "nyelv" a lehető leghatékonyabban tudja átadni a szükséges ismereteket, információkat. Ez a nyelv nem más mint a megosztható három dimenziós tér.

Manapság a média tele van a drónokról szóló hírekkel. De mit jelent ez egy járműirányítással foglalkozó kutatóintézetnek? Hogyan lépnek be ezek a „játékok” a kutatók életébe? Ezt törekszik a Rendszer és Irányításelméleti Kutatólaboratórium bemutatni két helyszínen. Az egyiken a robotpilóta szoftverek áttekintő fejlesztési kérdéseivel és a légtér biztonságát szolgáló úgynevezett látni és elkerülni rendszerrel foglalkozunk majd, míg a másikon egy flexibilis szárnyú repülőgéppel foglalkozó projektünket mutatjuk be, különös tekintettel a robotpilóta hardver fejlesztésekre, és a kapcsolódó izgalmas kérdésekre. A program részeként szimulációban mindenki kipróbálhatja majd, hogyan boldogulna egy drón vezetésével.

Robots & Heros: A diabetes camp in the Netherlands with robot buddy

Other
T1DM is a chronic disease that sets high demands on self-management in childhood to prevent health problems in short-term (hypo or hyper) and in long-term (e.g., arteriosclerosis) [1-2]. Self-management requires motivation and perseverance.

PAL (Personal Assistant for Healthy Lifestyle) is a 4-year European Horizon 2020 project. It develops and researches a social robot (i.e., the NAO, a humanoid, embodied and interactive agent), its avatar (in an app), an authoring tool for healthcare professionals (PAL Control) and an information system for parents (PAL Inform) (www.pal4u.eu). PAL aims at assisting the child (7-14 years old), health care professional and parent, to jointly perform diabetes management, whereby the child learns to be more self-reliant before adolescence. This is situated in different daily contexts for children with T1DM, such as at home, in hospitals, and at diabetes camps in the Netherlands and Italy.

During a three day diabetes camp organised this autumn in the Netherlands, children (8-12y) interact with the PAL system (robot, avatar and edutainment apps). Also, through creative methods (e.g., theatre, drawing, story telling), they are surveyed on 1) their needs for diabetes self-management support and 2) how the PAL system could further support them in their diabetes .management. Lessons learned during the camp are used to further improve the PAL system for fun, useful and long-term support for T1DM in children.

The project involves research partners TNO (coordinator), DFKI, FCSR, Imperial and Delft University of Technology, next to end-users, the hospitals Gelderse Vallei and Meander, and the Diabetes Association Netherlands and Ital, and SME’s Mixel and Produxi.

Challenge / Competition
The main goal of this project is that the children from the earliest age acquire knowledge in the so-called STEM occupations, which is the acronym of the words science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By learning and playing at the same time, we want to motivate children to acquire knowledge in these occupations so they can have the opportunity to show it at the organized competitions within SPARKreators League.

SPARK school donated 698 mBot robots to primary schools and associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina through SPARKreators project. Extensive interest in this project was demonstrated by teachers who, after their education, prepared the students and transferred the acquired knowledge.

After the training and preparation of the students, the 1st Physical Round of SPARKreators League in regional center Bihac will be held on Friday, 20 October 2017.

Target audience
