Call for Central Event 2021

We would like to invite euRobotics members who are willing to organise regional robotics events in partnership with euRobotics aisbl for European Robotics Week. Specifically, we seek proposals for hosting the Central Event. As last year, the ERW 2021 Central Event will need to be delivered virtually, in light of local public health restrictions arising from the pandemic, although we will also consider proposals for a hybrid delivery (virtual and face-to-face). This is an opportunity to engage the public and demonstrate creative thinking and share the passion we all share for robots and robotics. The ERW will take place as usual during the last full week in November (both weekends inclusive), i.e. 19-28. Nov 2021. The Central Event itself normally takes place on the first weekend but there is some flexibility. The Opening session could even take place on the Thursday or Friday leading up the ERW period, i.e., 17 or 18 Nov.

The ERW Central Event acts as the hub for all events. We ask applicants to address regionally relevant industries with a focus on robotics. The educational element can be provided via workshops and competitions, as well as interactive and creative events that allow children/young people and adults to engage. The scope allows for a certain amount of flexibility due to the wide target audience and each proposal will be measured on the inclusivity of events. Again, it is assumed that most or all of the range of activities are likely to delivered virtually.

We therefore seek committed organisers who can create a dynamic mixture of local/online events and workshops (by scientists, labs, teachers, schools, robotics engineers, robot makers etc.) to engage with the European public. This Call sets out the background to the ERW and explains the criteria, requirements and other expectations for hosting the Central Event.

We encourage all potential organisers to find creative ways to present and communicate the positive impact of robotics to the public. It is likely and expected that much or all of the Central event will need to be delivered virtually, in light of local public health restrictions arising from the pandemic.

If you are interested, please send us the filled application form by 27 August 2021.
